Velvet Eyewear the season to give back

Tis' The Season To Give Back

Posted by Cindy Hussey on

With the holiday season upon us, it's time to start thinking about how you can give back. Whether it's a donation, your time, a talent, or a simple act of kindness, there's no better way to get into the holiday spirit than bettering the lives of those in need.

We've rounded up a list of some of our favorite charities for you to consider donating to this season + opportunities to help make someone’s holidays a bit brighter this year.

Boca Helping Hands - Servicing Palm Beach County, BHH provides food, medical and financial assistance to meet basic human needs as well as education, job training and guidance to self-sufficiency.

Feeding America - 1 in 9 people struggle with hunger in the U.S. Feeding America is a hunger relief organization with a nationwide network of food banks feeding the hungry.

JAFCO- A non-profit organization whose mission is to care for abused and neglected children and those with disabilities in the Jewish community, and to work in partnership with families and the entire community -- giving every child a place to belong.

Toys for Tots - The mission of the Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys to distribute to the less fortunate children. Through the gift of a new toy, they help bring the joy of Christmas while sending a message of hope.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation - Honors the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. Tunnel to Towers also honors our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country.

Salvation Army - Exists to meet human need wherever, whenever, and however they can. They assist approximately 23 Americans annually & serve in 130 countries around the globe.

Wreaths Across America- WAA's main mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach. They coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies in honor of or in memory of our Veterans at more than 2,100 locations across the United States. Sponsor a veterans’ wreath at a cemetery near you, volunteer or donate to a local sponsorship group.

The holidays are a joyous time for most, but, for struggling families it could be a time of stress and anxiety. Parents barely getting by still want their children to experience the joy and excitement of receiving the presents and toys of their dreams. That being said ... we've decided to hold our own holiday toy drive here at the Velvet Eyewear headquarters now through Monday, 12/21/20! The new, unwrapped toys will benefit the children of Palm Beach County.

“It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.”

Here's to a merry & bright holiday season. Stay happy, stay grateful, stay safe!

XOXO,

#lovevelvet
