Our Founder's Guide to Sun Protection

The sun is out all year and those harmful UV rays are always present, some days more than others. As the founder of Velvet, I want to share with you some of my secrets to help fight those crows feet, fine lines, and the effects of harmful UV rays.
Of course, this is all in addition to wearing great sunglasses with UV Protection from any of our sunglass collections.
My absolute favorite product is the Lancome foundation. I have been using this for years and never go out without it. It gives great coverage and has SPF 18, but it is not heavy and does not feel like most UV protection formulas. This formula works well for me and hope it works for you too. The only drawback is they do not carry it in the stores any longer. You have to order it online and the price went up a bit to $69.00. The good news is that a little goes along way, so it lasts several months. Here is what their website has to say:

Recently, I discovered Lancome's day cream, too. I usually do not buy department store facial creams, but this one I like and find myself reaching for it often. Here is what they have to say about it:

 No beach day for me is ever a good day without a hat. I do not like getting direct sun on my face. It makes my skin feel terrible and then my makeup doesn't apply the same. I love hats, and have many.  I find myself reaching for the same one for the beach. Made by Coolibar. It is so easy to pack and light weight. I can fold it up and stuff it into my beach bag and it still looks fab after years of wear and tear. Mine is a pale green/grey color which I love, because it goes with everything. I have never bought a rash guard, but this year I definitely have my sites on this  one made by Athleta. It is UPF 50+ and I love the simple design. It's going to look great with my bathing suit bottoms! Totally sexy.

Finally, NO day in the sun is complete without body sunscreen. I am not loyal to any particular brand, but I love a great spray on!
